Know which
build actually
wins.
A live build tracker and strategy companion for the roguelike Everything Is Crab. Track every run, compare builds, and let real data — not vibes — rank what's strong.
Build Library
58 curated builds across every stage — target evolutions, recommended genetics & specialisations, and early/mid/late progression for each.
Live Power Ratings & Tiers
Each build starts at a calculated seed and shifts toward its measured performance as runs accumulate. Self-normalizing S–D tiers that rebalance as the data grows.
Scaling & Traits
What scales best by the numbers, and which evolutions are actually winning — pick-rate, win-rate and difficulty reached, straight from runs.
Run History
Every run captured: outcome, difficulty, cause of death, and how closely you followed your target build. Your whole crab career, logged.
Four steps, about two minutes.
The companion is a small desktop window that sits beside the game. It reads the game's own log file and your save files, and shows you ranked suggestions while you play. There's nothing to configure: install it, launch the game, and it picks everything up on its own.
Sign in & download
Open the tracker and enter the username you were given access with — no password. Then open Get the App and run the installer. It installs to your own user folder: no admin rights, nothing written to the game folder.
Windows will likely show "Windows protected your PC" — the app isn't code-signed yet (certificates cost money). Click More info → Run anyway. It's the normal warning for any unsigned indie tool.
Start the game
Launch Everything Is Crab on Steam as usual. The companion finds the game's log automatically — no setup, no file picking, no launch options.
Keep the companion window wherever you like; drag it, or press F8 to click through it and F9 to dim it if it's in the way.
Play a run
Pick a target build in BUILD LIBRARY (or just play). At every level-up the picker overlay ranks the three offers for your build and tells you whether to reroll, upgrade or take one — using your live mutagen count.
When the run ends you get a summary: how closely you followed the build, what killed you, and how it compares to your history.
Tell us what broke
Ping @warmachine13555 on the Everything Is Crab Discord — in the thread where you got this link, or by DM. Screenshots are gold.
If something looks wrong, the log at %LocalAppData%\CrabCompanion\detector-trace.log usually explains it — attach it if you can.
What we'd love feedback on
- Are the suggestions any good? When the overlay ranked an offer #1, was it actually the right pick? Tell us where it was clearly wrong — that's the most useful thing you can report.
- Did anything not show up? Overlay never appeared, numbers stuck at zero, a build showing "no data" — those are bugs, not you.
- Are the builds sensible? Missing an obvious build, or one that's rated far too high/low for how it really plays?
- Does it get in the way? Placement, size, readability, anything that distracts while you're actually playing.
- Rough edges: confusing wording, a screen you couldn't figure out, a crash — no report is too small.
What it does — and doesn't — touch
It reads two things that already belong to you: the game's Player.log and your own save files. That's it.
- No modding, no injection, no memory reading, and it never modifies a single game file or touches the game's network traffic.
- Finished-run summaries (outcome, difficulty, build, evolutions, time) and your unlock progress upload to this site under a random ID like crab_a1b2c3… — that's what powers the build ratings.
- Don't want that? Open ⚙ SETTINGS → Upload my runs → OFF. Everything still works, fully offline.
- No account, no email, no personal data, no ads, no telemetry beyond the above.
Uninstalling — 10 seconds, no leftovers
Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Crab Companion → Uninstall. (Or run %LocalAppData%\CrabCompanion\Update.exe --uninstall.)
To also wipe its saved data — your settings, run history and cached build data — delete the folder %LocalAppData%\CrabCompanion. Your game and its saves are untouched either way, because the companion never writes to them.
Reads the log, not the game.
The desktop companion watches the game's own Player.log and quietly uploads a summary of each finished run. The site turns those summaries into build ratings, tier lists and trait analytics — the more you play, the sharper it gets. No game files are modified, no memory is read, and nothing but your own run summaries ever leaves your machine.
